Profile
A healthcare executive and academic physician whose work spans hospital governance, emergency medicine, disaster preparedness, quality improvement, accreditation, research governance, humanitarian response and medical education.
He founded the Emergency Disaster and Crisis Centre at SASMEC @IIUM and stood up the hospital's COVID-19 taskforce, its patient flows, protocols and reference guidelines. He was the first Head of the Department of Emergency Medicine at the Kulliyyah of Medicine, IIUM, where he introduced undergraduate emergency medicine training in 2019.
He was the first Malaysian candidate accepted to the Disaster Medicine Fellowship at Harvard Medical School, publishing four disaster-related papers during training and holding a concurrent appointment as Research Fellow. In 2024 he was named an InterAcademy Partnership Young Physician Leader, and deployed with the WHO Emergency Medical Team to Rafah, Palestine.
He now serves as Director Clinical (Medical Services) at SASMEC @IIUM, accountable for clinical governance, quality and patient safety, hospital accreditation and service development.
